Momordica charantia L. extracts against Aedes aegypti larvae

Abstract Mormodica charantia (Curcubitaceae) is a plant with great medicinal potential, also used as an alternative of mosquitoes control demonstrated by previous studies. We evaluated the larvicidal activity crude extracts ethyl acetate, methanol and hexane from flowers fruits M. against Aedes aegypti (Culicidae). Flowers were macerated in methanol, acetate hexane. Bioassays performed application at final concentrations 1 - 200 µg/mL middle third instar larvae A. (L3). The results showed high toxicity to 100 µg/mL, 97% 87% mortality (L3), respectively. Hexane extract low toxicity, while exhibited 78% larval mortality. data suggested that can effectively contribute activity. In addition, purification may lead promising population.
